Plantago Lanceolata

Plantago Lanceolata

Plantago lanceolate

Also known as Ribwort plantain, narrowleaf plantain, English plantain, rib leaf, Lamb’s tougue

ORIGIN Europe

DISTRIBUTION: Worldwide

DESCRIPTION: Plantago Lanceolata is a perennial herb that reaches a height of 5 to 50 centimetres. It grows worldwide and favours meadows and roadsides. Its flowers are relatively small because they are wind-pollinated and there is no need to attract insects.

APPLICATION: The extract of Plantago lanceolata has traditionally been used in folk medicine for wound treatment and insect bites. Some consider it the most important natural remedy of all. In cosmetics, it is popular because of its antiinflammatory properties.

EFFECT: The extract of Plantago lanceolata reduces irritation and inflammation. Extract the juice of fresh plantain leaves and apply it to the affected region. You can also make a poultice by crushing these leaves with cool water for similar benefits. While the anti-inflammatory nature soothes the burning and rashes, antibacterial properties prevent itching. It has astringent and antioxidant properties and supports the skin's natural healing processes.
